We entered the U14.5 Ulster Colleges Corn Mac Neasa Cup and were drawn in a strong section with St. Colmcilles (Down), St. Louise’s Belfast, Shimna Integrated College (Down), and Newbridge Integrated College (Down). Considering these teams have strong catchment areas at underage level, we played very well and were competitive in all the matches. The boys won their first Ulster Colleges game at this level against St. Louise’s with a resounding 1-5 to 0-0 score line. We pushed hard against a very good Newbridge team but just fell short. They went on to win the group. The lads gave Shimna a close game and were leading for most of second half, but we just couldn’t hold out as injuries reduced us to 14 players. In the last game, we had opportunities to win it and the lads gave everything, but things just didn’t go our way. Our boys were a credit to the school and I was proud of the way they played. We look forward to the challenge matches organised for next term! Come on Parkhall.
